HSS Windsurfing Area Project 2023

My Fellow Windsurfers and Sailors,

We are excited to announce that we are embarking on a project to develop the windsurfing area in HSS. The club has allocated the necessary funds required for this development. As a community, we have identified the need to enhance this area to accommodate the growing interest in windsurfing and to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our existing and future members.

To make this project a success, we need volunteers who would like to help lead the development efforts. We believe that there are quite many of you who have the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to make a meaningful contribution to this project.

As a volunteer, you will receive the full 26 Talkoo points for the season, additionally you will have the opportunity to work with a team of like-minded individuals who share your passion for windsurfing and sailing. You will also gain valuable leadership experience as you oversee the development efforts and ensure that the project meets its goals and objectives.

We essentially need volunteers for two roles:

  1. Project Manager

  2. Project Architect

Some of the key responsibilities of the volunteers leading this project are included in the annexure at bottom.

We believe that this project has the potential to transform the windsurfing area in our club and to provide a great experience for our members. We also recognize that we cannot achieve this without the dedication and support of our volunteers. The deadline to volunteer would be 19th of March. Post which if we do not have any volunteers we would need to suspend the project.

Annexure

Key Responsibilities of the volunteers:

  1. Planning

    1. Take measurements of the length and area of the wooden constructions(pathways).

    2. Figure out where there is a need for foundation for the pathway.

    3. Plan the wooden constructions (with help from club architects Aleksi and Lassi)

      1. Spacing of support

      2. Material thickness

      3. Calculate amount of material needed

    4. Plan the foundation

      1. Choose method (concrete, sinter blocks..) and calculate amount

    5. Plan a test spot for ground filling

      1. Choose sand or rounded gravel?

    6. Estimate time and manpower needed for building the wooden constructions

 

  1. Request quotation

    1. Send out quotation requests for the needed wooden material.

    2. Send out quotation requests for material(sand/gravel)

 

  1. Order of execution

    1. Build foundation for the wooden pathways and platform

    2. Build the frame

      1. Decide height of platform and pathways

      2. Build the frame loose on the foundation. When the frame is done, build the deck.

      3. The whole construction can be attached to the foundation, but keep in mind that it should be easy to detach in case it needs to be moved.
