Vårregattan May 10-11, 2025 NJK Björkholmen / Koivusaari
I took part in the first sailing regatta of the season, organized by NJK. The event was held in variable but sunny conditions, which made for an enjoyable atmosphere both on the water and ashore. I competed in the ILCA 4 class, and there were also sailors racing in the Finjolle, ILCA 7, ILCA 6, and E-jolle classes. It felt great to get back into racing mode after the long winter break.
Over the course of two days, we managed to complete four races. I finished in fifth place overall. I’m fairly happy with that result, although it’s a bit disappointing that we didn’t get a fifth race in. With five races, the discard rule would have come into effect, meaning each sailor could have dropped their worst result from the final score. That would have made a big difference for many of us from my club, since one poor race had a big impact on the overall standings.
All in all, I’m quite satisfied with how the regatta went. Things could have gone worse, but they also could have gone a lot better. It was a solid start to the season, and now I have a clear idea of what to work on before the next competitions.
