HSS Winter Tour 2023 – 24 registration is open!

We welcome all racing sailors from HSS and other clubs to join our winter program!

The clinics and regattas provide a unique opportunity to train in excellent conditions during the winter and experience sailing in large fleets. You can choose any number and combination from the six HSS Winter Tour 2023-24 events. Regatta weeks include clinic-style training and the regatta. Our winter tour coach is Pablo Avila working together with other HSS coaches.

The registration is now open via Suomisport and the links are at the end of this page. We will hold an info session at HSS Liuskasaari (and online) in early September! About the program

In the events that are open for both cadet and ranking sailors (Cadiz, Valencia, Garda) we aim to enrol enough participants to form two groups, based on their skill level, each with their own HSS coach. Coaches instruct cadet sailors how they can adjust the regatta experience to their skill level, and we also schedule rest. Torrevieja and Palamos regattas are for more experienced ranking sailors.

We aim to provide team travel and housing for in each event! But it’s only possible with a parent lead. Please consider becoming a parent lead for an event. You stay at the team house free of cost, partnering with the coaches and other parents to keep routines flowing, as well as keeping in touch with parents whose sailors are travelling on their own. If an event has no parent lead, each sailor organises their own travel and stay.

Something to note is that we prioritise trailer spots for sailors taking part in 3 or more events. If you participate in 1 – 2 events, we recommend chartering a dinghy from HSS partners in Spain.

Events

Dates may change +/-1 day according to regatta announcements. The dates mean active days on water and you should schedule one day before and one day after the event for travel.

Prices

The prices include HSS coaching and HSS rib (transport and on-site use). HSS prices apply for HSS 2024 full training season participants. Registration is completed with an advance payment, which is ~30% of the price. Shared costs not included in the fee that are good to prepare for include coach travel and housing, dinghy transport/rental and team housing. These are managed separately among parents.
