Welcome to Liuskasaari and the Try Out Day & Bryggfest 2024 event!

Welcome to our club’s Open House Day, which offers a fantastic opportunity to get to know our community, Liuskasaari, and try out sailing and windsurfing. The breeze of the sea, the sun in the sky, and the stunning views await you!

During Try Out Day, you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Liuskasaari and try your hand at sailing and windsurfing. Additionally, you can enjoy delicious offerings from the island’s restaurants and spend relaxing time by the sea. We’ll provide more information about our club and what membership entails.

In the evening, Brygfest festivities offer an opportunity to learn about club membership and services. Join us in celebrating together with invited guests and make unforgettable memories!

Day’s program

Junior sailing trial

(1) The program starts with an introduction the dinghy and its parts, and putting on the life jackets. At the same time, a briefing about junior sailing at HSS is held for parents: Training program, schedules, equipment, prices, Q&A.

(2) Before launching the boats, we practise sailing in the dinghy simulator.

(3) HSS sailing coaches take the kids sailing. Participants get to try steering the dinghies.

(4) Finally, life jackets and other equipment are returned.

Adult sailing trial

1) Arrival Check-in / handing out life vests,

2) After A quick introduction about HSS, the sailing and windsurfing center and the island, the participants begin with a short theory & safety session during which the Coach goes through the basics of sailing.

3) Following, participants will be taken to the waters. In more than one person’s Boats in a RS Toura class , participants sail under the guidance of experienced Sailors.

The try out session is done is five person groups. The groups start at 15 minute intervals from 12:00 to 15:00. One session lasts about one hour.

Adult sailing trial

The Try Out day is on 8th of June, You can choose either 1pm or 3pm slots as per your convinience.

Book your ticket and spot for the trial session of the junior and adult sailing school through the online store.

There is no need to book a ticket or a spot in advance to explore the classic sailing. You can simply arrive at Liuskasaari to get acquainted with the classic boats.

When you purchase a ticket to our event, please note that photos taken during the event may be used and shared by our organization. By purchasing a ticket, you agree that your images may be used and published. Additionally, we remind you that each participant should have their own personal leisure accident insurance, as the organization unfortunately cannot cover any personal or property damage that may occur during the event. What to wear?

Normal outdoor clothes, shoes and a cap depending on the weather.

Adult sailing trial

What to wear?

Clothing- Outdoor jackets are fine, sailing specific jackets / Tops are not required.Starting out with Generic outdoor trousers is fine. Select trousers depending on (water) temperature and weather. Trousers should either be waterproof or dry really quickly.For beginning use any sturdy boot or sneaker is fine. Some of our Sailors have also experimented with watertight socks.Depending on the weather you might want to use a hat. A typical choice is either a beanie “beanie” or a cap “cap”. Normal ones are good, but they shouldn’t fly away from your head! Please remember to wear Sunglasses and apply adequate Sunscreen.
