Winter storage of keel and motor boats

The club organizes winter storage on the Liuskasaari and on the Liuskaluoto. The boat to be stored on the island must have its own demountable boat cradle or supports of a size suitable for the boat. Canopies and tarps must also be of the correct size and suitable for the windy conditions on the Liuska. For mast storage, there are two mast shelters on the Liuskasaari, which are covered and the walls are sealed in a collective effort at talkoo days. For wooden masts, you can ask for storage in the West Shed, raised to the roof. The masts can be lowered either on the mast crane on Liuskasaari or on the mast crane on Sirpalesaari (for deeper boats). A mast trolley is available on the island for moving masts. There are several pressure washers on the island for washing your boat.

The winter storage area is emptied after the boats are on water and all the cradles are assembled in the cradle storage area, which is fenced for the summer. Owners of boats in winter storage must take part in the spring takoo days, where the cradles are cleaned up in a defined area and the area is fenced off. In the autumn there will be a second event to dismantle the fencing and prepare the cradles for lifting the boats. Boat owners have very limited space for storing their belongings and are advised to store their belongings elsewhere in their own storage room for the winter.

Winter storage space is applied for separately and is not automatically included in the boat space.

Winter storage of dinghies

Lifting and lowering of boats

In spring and autumn, the club organizes joint boat launches and liftings on the Liuskasaari and Liuskaluoto. Lifting and lowering normally take place on Friday and Saturday, with Sunday being a reserve day in case of bad weather, for example. You will find the lifting and lowering dates in the calendar at the bottom of the home page as soon as the final dates have been agreed with the lifter.

Lifting is carried out by bringing a crane truck on a large ferry to the island to lift or lower all the boats over a period of two to three days. The boat must therefore be ready for launching and lifting that weekend. The boat owner or his representative must be present at the joint lifting and lowering. We recommend that you provide sufficient assistance for a smooth boat launching and lifting. Boat owners will receive further information by email before the weekend.

The club has its own crane to lift boats under 1,000 kg on its own.
