Restaurant HSS Paviljonki

The club has had restaurant rights on Liuskasaari since 1899, and the club’s pavilion has been a meeting and entertainment place for members for over a hundred years, the home of the HSS.
The building, designed by Runar Finnilä and completed in 1949, was one of the venues for the sailing competitions at the Helsinki Olympics. The restaurant’s interior is a fine synthesis of Finnilä’s architecture and Björn Landström’s marine frescoes and Michael Schilkin’s ceramics – the windows and terrace offer the city’s finest view of the Harmaja lighthouse and the horizon.
The restaurant has been open to the public since the 1960s, and we warmly welcome guests. For club members, the restaurant’s menu includes a daily changing tasty sailor’s menu with drinks at member prices. In keeping with tradition, the sailing season opens on May Day with a flag-raising ceremony at 12 noon, followed by a communal May Day lunch.
